Mississauga Hockey League Import Policy

I pulled this from the Mississauga Hockey League site because it clarifies their import policy and a lot of
viewers are interested in player movement.  Like it or not, it's great when rules and boundaries are clear.

"Non-Residency Policy and Import Players
March 2, 2012

Attention MHL Coaches, Players & Parents:
For the upcoming 2012-2013 hockey season, all Mississauga Hockey League “A” teams will be permitted to sign one import player to their roster.  Coaches should be reminded that the Non-Residency Policy of the City of Mississauga indicates that non-resident participation must not prevent a Mississauga resident from participation on an “A” team if they are properly qualified.
Coaches should also note that only players covered by the Lake Ontario Region (LOR) Agreement qualify to play “A” as MHL/GTHL imports or as call-ups.  (Oakville, Brampton, Pickering, Ajax & Richmond Hill are covered by the LOR.  Milton, Burlington, & Georgetown, to name a few LOR exceptions, are not.)
The MHL is committed to working with the City of Mississauga with a view to establishing a Non-Residency Policy that satisfies the City’s concerns and that enables our “A”, House League, and Introductory (Tyke) Programs to continue to grow and to provide a high-quality hockey program for the youth of the City of Mississauga."
