Halton Secondary Schools ban rep girls from playing high school hockey

Just when I thought that girls hockey leagues and high school hockey programs were more sane than boys hockey leagues, the HSSAA  - Halton Secondary School Athletic Association has stepped in with some sheer brilliance. http://www.insidehalton.com/sports/article/1567239--girls-can-t-play-both-rep-and-high-school-hockey-in-halton  From what I can gather the proposal is to prevent girls from playing both high school hockey and rep hockey.  Who does this benefit?  Is it for the girls?  Did the hockey coaches vote for this? The rep hockey associations?  Was it just the HSSAA?  Do you think they are a little out of touch with reality?  Should this apply to all other sports?  Basketball, volleyball, baseball? What do you think HSSAA?
